Animoceans is an ongoing series of visual vignettes about life in the ocean in Scotland and beyond, co-created by Emily Doolittle (composer and textile artist), Neil Banas (oceanographer and origami artist), Eleanor Stewart (animator), Greenlight Creative (Vicki and Jason Brwon, producers), and Rachel Iwaasa (pianist). These wordless stories combine the tactility and approachability of hand-made craft with the expressiveness of stop-motion animation, inviting viewers to develop a sense of warm curiosity towards the creatures who live in the waters around us. While viewers are free to project their own narrative onto these oceanic life cycles, we hope that they may come away more invested in creating the environmental conditions which allow these stories to continue.
